Our Community Impact

EPECARE’s work spans international disaster response, Boston-area community training, and the development of local instructors who carry that work forward.

During COVID, EPECARE responded to the changing needs of Boston communities by helping deliver food and essential items to ABCD families and other community members in need. As the immediate crisis evolved, we pivoted from direct relief efforts toward education and preparedness—returning to many of those same communities to provide CPR, Stop the Bleed, emergency preparedness, and other lifesaving training.

That progression is central to how we work: respond to the immediate need, educate the community, and then build sustainable capacity within that community.

Internationally, our work spans Haiti, The Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and Costa Rica, where more than 2,200 first responders have been trained and over 750,000 people have been documented as impacted through our Haiti initiatives.

Locally, we train approximately 1,000 people each year across Boston and Greater Boston. We developed 75 instructors in 2025 and 16 more in 2026, with 7 instructor teach-backs completed this year—each one extending our reach into another organization or neighborhood.

Alongside this work, our Junior Responder Program introduces youth and young adults to lifesaving skills, and our partnerships throughout Boston and Greater Boston continue to grow.
